TRIP to FREMANTLE and FRESH SEAFOOD LUNCH at KAILIS There was day during the holidays that the gang and i decided to head down to the old town of Fremantle a.k.a. FREO to just have lunch and basically hang out. Freo is this old place off Perth, its pretty nearby and its main attraction would be the buildings. If you notice, they all date back a century and the archi has been preserved so that generations to come shall and will be able to appreciate their heritage. Other attractions here include the numerous museums, the prision, fort-like things (eg: canons, guns, anchors ...), some shopping at the markets, ice cream stalls and the beach. Personally, i like Freo for two main reasons ... the first would be the nice, fresh, succulent seafood, you can have it grilled or the classic deep fried seafood in batter. The shops like Kailis and Cicerella's are pretty generous with their portions and the food is to die for. I like Kailis better and you ought to try it if you ever get the chance. The fried SCALLOPS, SQUID RINGS, PRAWNS and crumbed fish is soooo tasty and soooo soft, crispy on the outside, yet juicy on the inside. I looove them!! heehee ... Narf about food. The second thing i adore about Freo is the fact that it's a blend of the old and the new. Almost all the shops have this rustic charm about them, maybe it's the buildings but its just the whole feel of the place, the place makes you feel as if you've gone back a century and lets you try living life as it was then. I think that's really cool. All in all, Freo is one place we all enjoyed in different ways, some of us loved the food, others liked the museums, beaches and all. But the one thing we all enjoyed was each other's company and being able to hang out once in awhile.
