ok ...
I've been EXTREMELY busy with work, doing the tons of essays (+readings) and preparing for my exams.
Nevertheless, this is quite a funny joke that i got off my psych textbook ...
16.1: An accident prone supervisor?
Although we expressed skeptism about the concept of "accident proneness" earlier in the module, the following accident makes one wonder whether there are indeed individual difference characteristics that can consistently predict unsafe behaviours.
One of your authors was performing a job analysis of a cabinet maker's job when he noticed that the supervisor whom he was interviewing was missing a finger on his left hand. Since safety was an issue in his job, it made sense to ask whether the loss of the finger was work related.
The supervisor got an embarrassed look on his face and said that it had happened, ironically, while he was instructing a new employee on the safe use of a band saw. He then proceeded to go over to the saw and demonstrate to the psychologist how it had happened --- and promptly cut off two fingers off his other hand!!
